Take That Gary Barlow's dad killed by heart attack
Oct 17 2009 Rick Fulton

THE father of Take That star Gary Barlow has died of a suspected heart attack.

The singer rushed back from London, where he had been promoting a Children In Need concert, to the family home in Cheshire after dad Colin, 71, collapsed.

A family friend said: "Everyone's devastated.

"It's not clear what's happened to Colin yet but it looks like he may have suffered a heart attack. We won't really know until the coroner's examination."

Friends said Gary, 38, was "in shock". One pal added:"As soon as he heard, he wanted to be with his family."

Gary doted on his dad and dedicated the Take That song Nobody Else to his parents.

He has three children of his own, and will face the harrowing task of telling the two eldest, Daniel, nine, and Emily, seven, that their grandad has passedaway.

A spokesman for the star said last night: "Gary has suffered a family bereavement. We would ask for privacy at this sad time."

Gary was in London promoting Children In Need Rocks, a massive concert at the Royal Albert Hall next month which will kick off the 2009 appeal.

Sir Paul McCartney, Leona Lewis, Cheryl Cole and Take That will perform.

The reunion is go: Robbie Williams to rejoin Take That for a good cause

11 NOVEMBER 2009

He's been hinting for months that a Take That reunion is imminent. And now it looks like Robbie Williams could be rejoining his former bandmates on stage – all in the name of a good cause.

The singer, whose album Reality Killed The Video Star is expected to top the charts this weekend, will reportedly perform with the group for a Children In Need charity spectacular on Thursday night.

It will be the first time in 14 years he has performed with Mark Owen, Jason Orange, Howard Donald and Gary Barlow, who is organising the event.
A source told The Sun on Wednesday: "The reunion is go. Robbie is utterly thrilled about it. He's been dreaming of performing with Take That again for years and now it's going to happen.

"They haven't decided what they are going to sing together, but something will take shape in rehearsals today."

Paul McCartney is also expected to perform at the event, which will take place at London's Royal Albert Hall.

Robbie Williams moved to tears as he joins Take That on stage at charity concert

13 NOVEMBER 2009

Incredibly 15 years have passed since Robbie Williams last appeared on stage with Take That.

So it was with baited breath that fans waited to see if he would join the quartet at a Children In Need charity concert.

And their prayers were answered – partially.

Take That opened the musical extravaganza – organised by Gary - at the Royal Albert Hall with a rendition of their hit single Greatest Day.

It was then the moment the audience had been waiting for as singer-songwriter Gary announced the 35-year-old singer on to the stage.

"What a perfect night for us to introduce an old friend," he said as the tearful musician appeared.

Overcome with emotion, he hugged his former band mates each in turn as he soaked up the limelight with Gary Barlow, newlywed Mark Owen, Howard Donald and Jason Orange once again.

Despite hopes that the five would reunite for a special performance of an old Take That number, the boys then left Robbie on stage to sing his solo singles Bodies and You Know Me.

Speaking after the show, the Stoke-on-Trent-born star said: "I was tearing up just before I came on and the lads were singing and knowing it was just about to happen and knowing what the reactions were going to be like, and then all my team were like 'Please don't cry.'"

"And I think we should have milked it for a lot longer than we actually did," Robbie added.

His sentiments were echoed by Gary himself who said: "Robbie was the icing on the cake for the whole gig. We wanted to stay on and do ten songs. It felt great having him back."

Clearly relations between all the boys are at a high – Robbie and Gary sang together with their arms around each other's shoulders as they joined all the evening's acts for a finale of Beatles classic Hey Jude, led by Paul McCartney.

So does that mean there is a Take That reunion is definitely on the cards?

"We'll save that for something special, whatever that is," teased Robbie, denying it would be at the next Brit awards.

"I'm not nervous anymore because we've seen each other…the bitterness and resentment has completely gone and I'm just left with four other lads that I just love to pieces."
